I have been trying a number of Linux Live CDs, trying to find which, if any, is best suited for use within VMware Workstation or Fusion.
The kinds of things I mean by it being well suited are things like:
- Will auto-release mouse without needing Ctrl+Alt keypress.
- Auto re-size desktop resolution when Workstation window is re-sized.
- Support Unity Mode to display Linux app on native desktop.
- Has VMware Tools (or Open-VM-Tools) included
The only one of the above I have found in a Live CD thus far is #1, auto-release mouse when leaving Workstation window. That was with Slax Linux ( http://www.slax.org/ ). I assume this was a function of having a VMware display driver in its X11 configuration.
The other Live CD I have tried, and liked, is Puppy Linux. But, it does none of the above. It requires manually releasing the mouse pointer, resizing the desktop, etc.
Are there any Live CDs that I have missed, which are geared towards VM environments?
