The pool are configureted : Manual Desktop pool, dedicated and VM not managed by Vcenter.

The problem only occurs for some DVI, the other works perfectly .

I checked the configuration and VM are identical .

Has anyone had the same problem?

2) We have upgraded our vCenter server to 6, Just want to confirm in vCenter6 vROPS is free or we have to purchase a seprate license, if possible can some one share the KB or Article related to this.

Not having used vCD or NSX before this maybe a very stupid question. We currently use another third party orchestration layer for a public cloud solution, this handles all of the Public IP assignment and isolation. It can do this without the need for any NAT, using a router appliance on each ESXi host. The router appliance  is per host (not per customer)

We are looking to do the same thing with vCD, but from what I understand we would need to provide an Edge Gateway to each customer and use NAT. We can then prevent unauthorised changes to the external interface on each customer Edge gateway.

We have a mix of customers, some using /29 networks and others with single IP addresses. I appreciate the routing suggested below would not work for the /32 IP assignments, so that will be a separate question/solution.

For the /29 what I was hoping to do is create a global external DLR which we connect the customers to. We would create the the various /29 networks as individual LIF's. That way the DLR would be the default gateway for the customers. they can then either use up their 5 available IP addresses on each LIF, or put in their own firewall appliance with a distributed logical switch behind that where they can deploy their vAPPS.

So my question is, can we create a pool of LIF's which can be assigned to customers as an External network? or would we need to create a DLR for each customer (if that is an option)?

The reason I would prefer a single DLR is to avoid the need for a controller VM for each customer, but if a DLR per customer allows us to avoid introducing NAT and a limit of 10 interfaces on the Edges, its still a good option. Providing its supported with vCD

I have a group of user to which I give the minimum of permissions. They have access to their dashboards, and in Home page, there is the action button, with Reorder/Autoswitch Dashboards, when we click on it, we have the list of all available dashboards in vROPS. Is there any way to hide it ?

We are having issues with VMware View Client keyboad input on iPad.

When we open the on-screen keyboard when using the VM, the keyboard layout is visually correct (Azerty-layout).

But when we type, the VM receives the keyboard input as Qwerty.

The keyboard settings on the VM are correct (Azerty-layout). We have no problems with the VM when using it on Windows machines.

The workaround we are currently using:

When we change the keyboard settings on the VM to Qwerty and we type on the Azerty-layout on screen keyboard most of the keyboard input is good.

But the user has to switch this back to Azerty-layout when he wants to use his VM on a Windows machine.

Is this a known bug with the VMware View Client on iPad and Azerty-layout?

Dear all, I have been knocking my VDP about trying to fix it. It had lost data02, and I got that back by running a filecheck discarding the metadata stuff. So, I was then able to gain access to the rollback, but rollback failed.

Now the status looks like this:

I found this article: Starting the MCS service in VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.1.x fails with the error: gsan rollbacktime does not match … and attempted to run the command specified in there, but it is not successful.

We have tried packaging Paint.NET but it did not work. We used a clean virtual machine while doing that but the resulting .exe file does not even work on the virtual machine although Paint.NET works on it.

.NET is packaged together with Paint.NET. The error is:

"Missing Import C:\Prpgram Files\paint.net\SxS\X86\ucrtbase.dll -> kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA"

We have also tried copying .dll files in different directories but it is still not working.

I'm building a base layer with Office 2016 installed.

I create the base OS and install Office 2016. After installation, I launch one of the apps and then activate the product using the key.

I capture the base image.

On a test deployment, office asks again to reactivate using the license key.

Is the normal behaviour or do I need to do something different?

Hello,

We have a bunch of Windows 10 floating-pools and they work fine. We also have 1 Persistent/manual pool with a single Win10 VM in it (came from same master-image).

Wierd thing is, that this one specific Windows 10 VM always shows up as "available" in View 6.2.0 admin.

The user that owns that VM can log in fine with his View client. But he can log in *only once*.

So he logs in, works. Disconnects, then tries to re-connect but the client barks that there are no desktops available. All the while, the VM displays as "available" in View Admin. In fact, it never ever shows anything else.

Only when the VM is powered down, it will say "Agent unreachable" as it should. But other than that, it always shows as "available", regardless of actual state.

The admin or the user must reboot the VM to be able to login again as from every second attempt on and onwards, results in the "no desktops available" error.

At the same time, The user can take over the still running session with RDP (effectively bypassing View) as often as he wants. The problem lies purely in View.

This VM runs inside the same subnet as the connection-brokers so firewall issues are out of the question. And the brokers do see the VM when it boots and change from "agent unreachable" to "available". So there is communication between the brokers and this VM's agent (all v6.2.0).

Any idea's?  This behaviour started a couple of months ago. Before, it worked fine. The VM is highly personalised and cannot be scrapped and rebuild. I re-installed the View Agent and VMtools and did all the obvious troubleshooting stuff. I'm baffled.

We got 1 Error Message per VM we have. Also for VMs who arent Enabled for VSGA mode. Im not sure why i should configure the pcipassthru on vsga mode. If im right then pci Passthru is for VGPU Mode? Where 1 GPU is directly attached to the VM.

Anyone know this Problem or can we ignore this messages?

In ESXCLI i have checked if the "nvidia-smi" and "gpuvm" command are running. This works! I also see the Test VMs connected to the GPU.

The View Clients have Enabled the 3D Suppport with 3D Renderer set as "Hardware"

Hi I'm new to .net sdk vCloud, i'm trying to create a webservice to connect to vCloud via API.

I downloaded code example on GitHub - rdbwebster/vcdapisamples: Vmware VCD .Net C# API examples

Tried a very simple code below :

I have a Windows 2012 R2 DataCenter Edition with a SQL Server Express 2014 instance. All works without problems.

If I install Horizon 7 Agent 64 bits, after server´s reboot SQl Server instance can´t start.

In the event log I receive the following Event ID: 17120,17826,17182 ans SQl Server fails to start.

I have tried many solutions but anything works. The only thing I can do is remove the Horizon agent and SQL Server works without problems again.

Someone knows how to fix the problem?

Is the Horizon agent not compatible with a SQL Server installation in the same server?

I can´t find a solution.

I'm trying to something as simple as sending an email from my ESXi 6 host (via cron). So, I see python is installed! Great! But what do I get?!

Sigh. So, I try to install the required lib. Seems VMware has gone out of its way to frustrate every aspect of that too: either they have removed the required packages to install other ones, or totally crippled the dependencies. So, that's a bust too.

I have a problem deploying OpenStack using VIO 2.0.1. It always fails around 86% with the following error message:

I am trying to automate my work of creating reservations.  I am leveraging the vco plug-in from flow grab (here) to do the basic creation of reservations.  With the plug-in i am able to create the base reservation, add the storage to the reservation and add the network mappings to the reservation.  I am missing just a few items i have been trying to create my own workflow with no progress to add the reservation policy.  Also, as a smaller item i need to setup the alerting tab.  How do i set the reservation policy for a reservation.

I am doing this as a small step of a greater workflow i am creating to create the entire business group in an automated fashion.

Steps in my busniess group creation master workflow:

1. normalize business group name
2. create ad groups for group manger and users
3. create business group
4. open helpdesk tickets to mail enable active directory groups.==aSync-Process==
5. assign ad groups and email to business group
6. create separate entitlements for Linux and Windows devices
7. add actions and blueprint to entitlements.
8. create reservation for each data center  ==> flow grab workflow
9. assign storage to each reservation  ==> flow grab workflow
10. assign networks appropriate to the data center  ==> flow grab workflow
11. assign reservation policy to the reservation  -----  This is where i am stuck  ------
12. Create custom group in vrops for the business group based on tags assign to requested machines.
13. Send managers cheat sheet to Group managers
14. Send users cheat sheet to the users

I'd like to leverage the canned "Copy file from vCO to Guest"  workflow on VMs running in vCloud Director.  The issue is that this workflow needs the vCenter VM Name.  Is there a way in Orchestrator to get a vCloud VM and then get the corresponding VM name in vSphere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
