vcloud datastore limit and threshold query
I am in need of a script that can go through all my vCloud datastore clusters and tell me what the value for each DSC is for Disk Space threshold Yellow and red. does anyone have a sample I can look at?
Ideally I would like to be able specify in the script that if the red is not = 300gb or yellow is not = 600gb then give me a list, but I will be stoked for aa list of everything that's configured.

High latencies with backup
We see some quite high latencies when running backups, what is a *normal* increase to expect? For instance - today we saw latency hit ~200ms on our Sexigraf monitoring (example attached).
We're on the latest version of vSAN, Current Dell firmware, Health plugin is reporting green for the cluster.

vCenter 5.5 upgrade
I'm looking to upgrade my vCenter servers from 5.5. Update 1b to the latest Update 3e.
I have three vCenter Servers in three sites, all in Linked Mode.
My understanding is that I need to unlink each vCenter from Linked Mode, take a snapshot of each of them, then run the upgrade ISO on each vCenter Server in turn (selecting custom option).
Is this correct? Will I be presented with the SSO screen that asks if this is the first vCenter server in the site or an additional server during the process? If so, what do I select?

vCenter Server 5.5 Update 2 to Update 3 Linked-Mode Procedures
Hello,
I am trying to recall the procedure when updating vCenter while in linked-Mode. I have 4 vCenter servers running Update 2 and I would like to update them to Update 3. Do I need to remove them from linked-Mode before updating or can I leave them in Link-Mode and run the update on each of the vCenter servers in the following order:
1. Upgrade vCenter Single Sign-On.
2. Upgrade vSphere Web Client.
3. Upgrade vCenter Inventory Service.
4. Upgrade vCenter Server.
Also, do I need to update one of the vCenter servers before the other?
Any info regarding this process is greatly appreciated.

Replicate between 5.x and 6.x
Hi
we are in the progress of moving a lot of VM's from a vSphere 5.5 environment to a vSphere 6 environment and we want to have this done with the least amount of downtime. We have looked at vSphere Replication to manage this job, but then the question come:
has anybody tried this ??
IS it possible to Replicate between 5.x and 6.x ??
AS fare as I have read we will not be able to use compression but is that the only thing ?
Looking forward to hear if it's possible.

xTremIO Controllers, Errors (LUN0 Presentation) and Mask_Path Statements
Looking for a little help on some advanced SAN configuration work
I'm in the middle of working out some storage issues out with my SAN team and EMC. One issue that surfaced was the use of the MASK_PATH statement in creating claimrules to eliminate errors associated with PowerPath claiming the presented XIO controller (EMC-KB 000487098). The XIO Controller is also assuming a LUN0 id although No bootable device is presented. The subsequent deluge of errors that surfaces is...
"WARNING: ScsiClaimrule: 1318: Path vmhba4:C0:T5:L0 is claimed by plugin NMP, but current claimrule number 340 indicates that it should be claimed by plugin PowerPath."
SAN and Support Says up and down to follow the technote although I found another article on their support site that says to discount the errors (EMC Art # 000468047)
I'm curious if anyone else has crossed this issue and whether they have worked this path to resolution or just left sleeping dogs lie? Also am I approaching the mask path statement rules correctly?
So our hosts have 4 adapters with 4 paths to each XIO device, bringing the total to 16 paths
If I'm going to implement this fix and mask the controller entirely, I suspect I'm going to have to create 16 individual claim rules to account for each path? If so, Thank god they didn't go with 8paths....

Client Integration Plugin Installation Errors (Host files in use)
Hello,
I am setting up a homelab and am having difficulty installing the CIP on a Windows 10 Home desktop.
After clearing this error, I'll get another error that the installer is corrupted. I've tried downloading another copy but still get same errors.
In other posts, I've seen suggestions to comment out the VMware entries in the host files. hosts.new is the only one with any VMware entries so far but I get permission errors when trying to edit. I've tried with a couple different administrator accounts and verified administrators have write permissions.
My overall experience with CIP overall has been really buggy on my laptop too. Is this a headache for most people?

Certificate Issues on Load Balanced PSC Deployment
Dear All,
We have deployed Load Balanced PSCs by following the below KB from VMware. We have chosen to use out existing enterprise Microsoft Based CA ant not using VMCA.
PSC installation and configuration was successful, but when we deploy the first vCenter, after the installation, we are not able to login to vcenter using the web client. We are getting the below error.
Any clue that we have to obtain certificate for vcenter from our CA, and if anyone knows please share the documentation for configuring vcenter certificates for Load Balanced PSC configuration with separate CA.
A server error occurred.
[400] An error occurred while processing the authentication response from the vCenter Single Sign-On server. Details: HTTP error code: 403, status: BadRequest, sub status: Issuer not recognized..
Check the vSphere Web Client server logs for details.

Can't install VCM agent into Linux machine in Linux machine
Hi guys,
I just installed VMware configuration Manager 5.8.2.
I can install VCM agent into Windows machine. But I can't install VCM agent into Linux machine.
I tried to manually copy the install package into Linux machine, then install it, it is OK, But I can't install it by Delegate Machine.
I checked the job it stopped "check request is complete‘.
Any suggestion? Thanks.

.vmx is not a valid config file
Suddenly, hard drive is full and the VM is no longer working. Says ourfile.vmx is not a valid configuration file although it was working fine. I think the .vmx file must be corrupt and has filled up my hard drive but I have no idea what to do or how to fix it. I'm using VM player 5.0.2. Can anyone help me?

vRealize Operations 6.1 dashboard is grayed out with question marks
Has anyone experienced the before? I have everything setup properly and collecting as well. I created a separate group of VMs to include their separate policy and they generate grayed out badges with question marks. Any suggestions?

NSX Manager - Backup
In my environment i have automated the back up of my NSX Manager every week once to the FTP server.
So every week once the NSX manager backup is taken & stored in my FTP server.
My question is when the backup is taken will the copy of the backup will remain in the NSX manager also or the backup data is only exported to the FTP server.
The reason for asking this is because, since the backup schedule happens every week, if the backup data is getting stored locally in the NSX Manager its disk utilization will increase & will cause high utilization.

Hi,
I have installed ESXI 5.1 on Workstation 9 on a user account but the both as run as administator.
When I tired to run Server 2008 R2.iso or Exchange.iso, I got the following error message:
Network boot from Intel E1000
Client MAC ADDR: 00 0C....
PXE-E53:No boot filename received
PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Operating system not found
I have reinstalled Esxi and Workstation 9 and they run as an administrator but the issue is the same.
There is a print screen with the settings for the Virtual machine created under ESXI.

Can i change VSAN storage policy live while VMs are still running?
I have 7 node cluster with ESXi 6.2 and VSAN enabled all flash, currently i have storage policy with Fault Tolerance method RAID-1 (Mirroring) - Performance,
i need to change it to Raid-5/6 (Erasure Coding), Can this be done live without affecting the VMs running in the cluster?

Подскажите пожалуйста, как определить, работает ли VMWare ESXi-6.0.0на рейде или просто на диске?
Физически в сервере два диска Western Digital Red WD10EFRX 1 Тб.
В vSphere Client -> Summary -> Datastorageпоказывается одно хранилище на 924Гб. Получается, ВМВаре таки поставлена на рейд? Может ли быть ситуация, что она поставлена на один диск, а второго просто не видит?
